All's Well That Ends...

Hello, one and all, and welcome to Onevan Academy. Enrollment is now open for those graced with the genetics of the Onevan-- here, you do not have to fear what evolution has made you, but rather learn to deal with it... along with learning the basics of leading the most normal of lives you'll ever have. Read through the rules of my school, review our history, become aquainted with how things work around here and everything will run smoothly. And remember: how you live with your gift in the future is your choice; what you do and how you live while you're here is mine.

Hate. Prejudice. Intolerance. Fear. Discrimination.

All words that have been tossed around in a negative context since mankind knew their meanings, all words that describe what we feel when faced with change, with difference, or, God forbid, both. For as long as there has been a deviation from the norm, there has there been a majority to persecute them, and so will there be in the future. Humans are afraid of variation and of what they don’t understand… It’s our way of life.

Early in the 1970’s, an entire generation was born, seemingly enough, to break the mold of normalcy in our world. Unbeknownst to the parents, this generation would be an extraordinary generation—an odd generation—The Onevan Generation.

Eighty-seven percent of children born into The Onevan had strange alterations in their D.N.A, mutations of sorts, shifting their genetic material and, for some, transforming their physical appearance. These changes gifted them with astonishing abilities—ranging from the mild clairvoyance to the extreme skill of morphing personal form at will—that made them remarkable, almost god-like figures to some, and objects for fear and loathing to others.

As the youth grew and their powers became more apparent, the people’s desire to be rid of them escalated. Politicians, scientists, and average, everyday folks began rallying together, brainstorming ideas on how to destroy The Onevan Generation in the simplest way. They even gave the entire generation a new “official” name: Generation Last.

By the ‘80s, Onevan children had been attacked, verbally, emotionally, and physically for things they couldn’t help, and soon it became very apparent that they would need a safe-haven.

It began with single buildings in small towns, blossomed into separate private schools, and exploded into entire Onevan towns, places where those with mutated genes could live, grow, and prosper like any “normal” person.

Now, the year is 1999 and most of The Onevan Generation seeks to further their studies in hopes of being successful despite their “problems.” Onevan Academy is one of many universities in the United States dedicated to these unique humans, nestled deep in the wooded mountains of Colorado.

But there has been another uprising of the “normal” populace, hate crimes even extending to the peaceful Rockies. The Academy is under scrutiny and most of the students have to fear for their safety on a day-to-day basis. Along with the regular issues that come with attending a college, how will they cope?

Everything comes to an end… right?
